Penny Harris' photographs are in the collections of the Houston Museum of Fine Art; the Baltimore Museum of Art permanent collection; the Chrysler Museum, Norfolk, VA; the University of Maryland Library Collection and the University of Delaware.
Maryland State Arts Council Awards for Individual Artists has supported her work. Additional recognition from Critics' Residency Program Awards from Maryland Art Place embraced creativity. Harris' diversity was expressed in a photographic stage set she created for a modern dance program performed at Towson University, the Baltimore Museum of Art and nationally.
She created a cultural event with her curatorial work, To This I Came
. This exhibit for mid-career women artists, exhibited at Notre Dame and Loyola Colleges in Baltimore simultaneously, included an original musical composition, poetry reading and a recorded interview discussing creativity with all artists by noted PBS interviewer Lisa Simeone.
Harris enjoys working with authors and playwrights to create images for theater posters, editorial work, book covers and stage sets. Recent exhibitions include Festival Visioniara, Siena, Italy and the Ratner Museum in Silver Spring, Maryland.
