I paint because I must. I love what I do. I paint and teach nearly every day. Painting energizes me and at the same time is meditative. I have painted and taught art classes in my studio, The Art Experience
in Studio City, CA for nearly thirty years. So, by now it is impossible to separate Manders the artist from Manders the teacher.
Kids and adults alike tell me they get my art. I welcome feedback, for I believe my paintings are completed only once they are seen. The LA Times said, "Manders is feel good art without apology." Their description works for me.
As a native of Los Angeles, I am influenced by my daily experiences of the LA multicultural scene: Latino, Hollywood, fashion, celebrities, night life, beaches, etc. My style is figurative or narrative contemporary expressionism. Basically, I am a storyteller with an edge.
I was mentored and studied in the United States, Mexico and Europe, where I was invited to the Royal College of Art in London. Today, my works are represented in fine collections internationally and my customized art services are utilized within such corporate sectors as Architectural and Interior Design, Hospitality and Restaurant, Gaming and Entertainment, and Media.
I am grateful to be so acknowledged as a fine artist and sculptor including having been selected United States Olympic Artist, selected for several Art in Public Places projects and selected for archival by the National Museum of Women in the Arts.
