Margaret Handwerker studied art in France, Italy and in her native Poland. It took seven intense years to complete these studies. She received with honors her Masters Degree from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw with a specialization in tapestry, painting and murals. She is an artist who feels comfortable in any medium. which includes: ceramics, mosaics and sculpture. Margaret has a thorough knowledge of art history which gives her a unique perspective.
Margaret is also a poet. In writing, as in art, Margaret's avowed intention is not to shock. She finds sufficient indifference to suffering, ignorance, brutality and greed in the world, without making it the focus of her art. Instead, Margaret's work returns to THE IDEAL; to what is positive, human and that which is evoked by hidden splendor in simple daily objects, nature and color. Things that foster peace and elicit a smile. As a very careful observer, Margaret chooses to concentrate on life's happy moments. By using the medium of tapestry, she creates unique hand-woven paintings in order to capture the essential beauty from our surrounding. Margaret Handwerker is a poet using visual elements to convey the everlasting Truth that is in our vicinity but very often overlooked in our daily hectic lives.
