Artist's Biography:
Colombian born Fanny Sanín is considered to be one of Latin America's most distinguished and well-respected abstract painters. Her impressive artistic career has spanned across many regions including Colombia, Mexico, England and the United States. Sanín studied at the University of the Andes in Colombia where she received a degree in Fine Arts. She continued her education with graduate studies at the University of Illinois and at the Chelsea School of Art in London.
Throughout Sanín's artistic career, she has exhibited her work in both solo and group shows all around the world. In total, her work has been included in almost 300 shows, 250 being group shows and thirty-five solo or retrospective exhibitions. Sanín has also taken part in landmark exhibition events that have traveled throughout the United States. One such occasion took place at the
Latin American Women Artists 1915-1995 exhibition, which opened at the Milwaukee Art Museum. Sanín's prolific career has been well documented with numerous periodical articles and illustrations in several books. Her outstanding body of work has not gone unnoticed; she is constantly the recipient of awards and other prestigious accolades.
